The Dog House Megaways review
The Dog House Megaways takes the famous kennel slot and rebuilds it on the Megaways engine. The dogs, the kennels and the white picket fence are all still here, but the grid is bigger: six reels, each showing between 2 and 7 symbols on every spin. The number of ways to win changes spin by spin, from 64 all the way to 117,649, and a counter above the reels shows the current total.
This edition is nearly as popular as the original, and for good reason. It adds a choice of free spins modes and lifts the maximum win to 12,305x the stake, almost double the classic.

How ways replace paylines
There are no lines to worry about. A win counts whenever matching symbols sit on adjacent reels starting from reel one, in any position on each reel. The more symbols a reel shows, the more combinations are possible. Because there are so many more ways to connect, individual payouts are lower than in the original: six of a kind of any dog pays between 1.5x and 7.5x the stake.
The kennel wild appears on reels 2 through 5 and stands in for everything except the scatter. It can carry a 2x or 3x multiplier, and when several kennels contribute to the same win their multipliers are added together.
Reading the ways counter
The figure above the grid is simply the number of symbols on each of the six reels multiplied together. Seven symbols on every reel gives 117,649 ways; two on every reel gives just 64. A higher number means a better chance that matching symbols line up on neighbouring reels, but it does not change what any single combination pays.
Two free spins modes
Three or more paw scatters anywhere on the reels start the bonus, and before it begins you pick the mode yourself:
| Scatters | Sticky Wilds | Raining Wilds |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 7 free spins | 15 free spins |
| 4 | 12 free spins | 18 free spins |
| 5 | 15 free spins | 25 free spins |
| 6 | 20 free spins | 30 free spins |
Sticky Wilds. The round opens with between 2 and 7 sticky wilds, each carrying a multiplier from x1 to x3. They stay put until the end and resize along with their reel. You get fewer spins, but every wild keeps working the whole way through.
Raining Wilds. On each spin up to six wilds with multipliers from x1 to x3 drop onto random positions. They do not stick, but you get roughly twice as many spins. Neither mode can be retriggered by landing more scatters.
Which mode to choose
Sticky Wilds shine when the wilds settle in early, because each one contributes on every remaining spin and the grid can be full of multipliers by the end. Raining Wilds give you more spins and a smoother ride: fresh wilds arrive each time, but they never pile up. A sensible rule of thumb is to take Sticky Wilds when you land 5 or 6 scatters and have plenty of spins, and Raining Wilds when you land only 3 and Sticky Wilds would give you just 7. The demo is the easiest place to find out which one you actually enjoy.
Buying the bonus
Where the platform allows it, the bonus can be bought for 100x your stake. The next spin lands between 3 and 6 scatters and you then choose the mode. It is the quickest way to compare the two options and also the most expensive, so try the feature in the demo before spending real Canadian dollars on it.
